Detroit Foundation Hotel: A Celebration of the City’s Past and Future

This hotel pays homage to the city’s past with its location in the former Detroit Fire Department Headquarters. A mix between modern and classic, the hotel features arched doorways, vaulted ceilings, exposed brick, and original marble flooring. The modern rooms reference Detroit’s identity as the Motor City with iron-welded door handles, bottle openers, and in-room private bar. Everything is crafted by local artisans and the artwork and installations are from neighbouring artists and creators. Alongside these modern treasures, the hotel places antique and vintage woodwork, rugs and some furniture. This hotel doesn’t only look good; it’s also got a restaurant with Chef Thomas Lents, a Michigan-native and Michelin-starred chef.
