Escape to Sluice Point House in Nova Scotia by Omar Gadhi Architects

This modern cottage in Nova Scotia, near the Tusket River, is the perfect Fall getaway. It’s a low structure which gives great views of the coastline and the surrounding cottages and its roofline are inspired by the fishing sheds that are popular in this region. The entire exterior and roof are made with local white cedar which gives it a unique tone that fits with the atmosphere of the surrounding area. The shape of the cottage is unique as well, forming a crescent which helps to conceal from the front but opens up to a breathtaking view of the lush greenery and marshland once you enter the space. The mix of concrete and wood are not only durable but also fit with the modern rustic charm of the cottage. It’s the perfect place to stay if you are planning on fishing, hiking, or boating and provides a much-needed escape from the city.
