In Seattle’s Queen Anne neighbourhood, overlooking downtown Seattle and Puget Sound lies the most urban, modernized home of Olson Kundig’s creations. Draped in glass, an industrial feel is brought to life with a large retractable window that is operated with a hand-cranked wheel and three large counterweights. A glass wall located towards the garden brings a welcoming “guillotine” opening that will escort you out to the greenery, while seamlessly connecting the indoors to the outdoors. Inside, industrial details from unfinished steel beams to plywood casework can be found everywhere. The 6,050 sq ft home is stretched over three levels of extravagance. The lower ground floor contains private spaces such as the bedrooms and bathrooms, which the main level floor shows off the open plan living spaces. A smaller level on the top is saved for even more privacy in the master bedroom.
