Surf’s Up at the Newly Redesigned Surf Club at the Four Seasons Hotel in Miami

Don't freak out but the Four Seasons Hotel gave the original 1930s Surf Club a new face. Founded by Harvey Firestone, the Surf Club was the toast of the town. The club had a very exclusive guest list and what on behind closed doors stayed behind closed doors. The club hosted numerous events including poolside fashion shows, boxing matches, booze at Prohibition-era parties, and even elephants. Famous visitors included Winston Churchill, Liberace, Frank Sinatra, and Alfred Hitchcock. Now this classic club is reopening its doors with a new elegant yet contemporary design designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Richard Meier and Paris-based interior designer Joseph Dirand. The 77-room hotel brings justice to the past glory of the Surf Club without sacrificing the original Mediterranean Revival aesthetic including restoring the original detailing of the public areas but adding touches of contemporary flair, capturing the mood of the building’s cinematic past. Guests can also enjoy what the club is famous for: the pool. They can feel free to lounge under one of the poolside cabanas and take advantage of the excellent hotel services.
