The latest concept design from Ressence is a mechanical watch that finally meets the precision technology of tomorrow. A young contender in the arena of Swiss watchmaking, Ressence’s Benoît Mintiens worked together with Nest Lab founder and inventor of the original iPod, Tony Fadell, to create a concept watch for the modern gentleman.
The Type 2 Concept is uniquely equipped with e-Crown® technology, an in-house electro-mechanical embedded system that registers, monitors and adjusts accordingly the time on your watch, all without human intervention. A fully mechanical watch, the Type 2 e-Crown® combines the base movement of a self-winding rotor with the power of a kinetic generator and photovoltaic cells, which are only revealed when the watch’s energy balance is low. In other words, the watch relies solely on two natural sources of energy: Wrist motion and solar energy.
The watch features three user modes: In mechanical mode, the watch runs without assistance and is similar to the average mechanical watch; in semi e-Crown® mode, the watch is set and adjusted to the minute; in full e-Crown® mode, the wearer syncs the watch with their phone so that the time is set and adjusted to the second.
