Located opposite the Sahara Kuwait Golf Club, The Burrow is an elite fitness centre that houses the region’s first commercial boxing gym, introducing and popularizing modern boxing equipment in the area. The fitness centre is split up into several rooms and studios that are devoted for different types of workouts (and a Juice Bar!), including a Crossfit Area, Bootcamp Area, Spin Studio, Yoga Studio, Boxing Area, and of course, the club’s revered Elevated Boxing Ring, placed in the centre of the spacious workout area and dramatically lit with nine pendant lights to make sure it can’t be missed.
Members of The Burrow enter the gym through a well-lit and narrow corridor that leads them past the Locker Rooms and into the main workout area. In contrast to the corridor, the workout area opens up the design of the gym as the natural wood of the entrance disappears and makes way for more modest combinations of concrete, tiles and steel. Inspired by retro boxing gyms, the design of this workout area features simple materials without elaborate decoration. The design’s emphasis on the natural flow of movement—for instance, the use of curved glass corners in the corridors—creates a welcoming atmosphere for members, while more innovative elements such as skylight openings at the gym’s northern walls, serve to maintain an element of surprise in this all-in-one modern gym.
